Millimeter-wave radar operates in the millimeter band. Millimeter wave usually refers to the 30 ~ 300GHz band (wavelength is 1 ~ 10mm). The wavelength of millimeter wave is between centimeter wave and light wave, so millimeter wave has the advantages of microwave guidance and photoelectric guidance. Compared with centimeter wave seeker, millimeter wave seeker has the characteristics of small size, light weight and high spatial resolution. Compared with infrared, laser, television and other optical seeker, millimeter wave seeker through fog, smoke, dust ability is strong, with all-weather (except heavy rain days) all day characteristics. In addition, the millimeter-wave seeker has better anti-jamming and anti-stealth capability than other microwave seeker.
Applicable requirements:
According to the characteristics of millimeter wave radar, it can easily meet the following application requirements:
(1) High-precision multidimensional search measurement: high-precision measurement and positioning of distance, bearing, frequency and spatial position;
(2) The radar installation platform has strict requirements for volume, weight, vibration and other environmental requirements: millimeter wave radar antenna is small in size and light in weight, which is easy to meet the special environmental requirements of different platforms such as portable, missile-borne, vehicle-borne, airborne and spaceborne;
(3) Target feature extraction and classification recognition: millimeter wave radar has the characteristics of high resolution, wide working frequency band, large Doppler frequency response, short wavelength, easy to obtain target detail features and clear contour imaging, which is suitable for the important tactical requirements of target classification and recognition;
(4) Small target and close range detection: the optical region corresponding to the short wavelength of millimeter wave is smaller, which is more suitable for small target detection than microwave radar. In addition to the special space target observation and other long-range millimeter wave radar, the general millimeter wave radar is suitable for short range detection below 30 km.
(5) Strong anti-electronic warfare interference: the available frequency band of millimeter wave window is wide, and it is easy to design wide-band spread spectrum and frequency hopping. At the same time, the reconnaissance and jamming equipment of millimeter wave radar is faced with the problems of wide band, atmospheric attenuation and narrow beam interference, so millimeter wave radar has better anti-jamming ability than microwave radar.
